Karolien Casaer-Diez

Karolien is the Global Senior Director for Article 6 at South Pole. In this role, she defines and oversees the company strategy for international compliance carbon markets governed under the Paris Agreement. With nearly 20 years of experience in climate finance, development finance, and carbon markets, Karolien has built a career at the intersection of policy, investment, and sustainability. Prior to joining South Pole, she held positions with the Belgian Foreign Ministry, the United Nations, and the Global Green Growth Institute, living and working across Africa and Asia. Her work has focused on advising governments on climate finance, aid management and green investment, and directing programmes across clean energy, sustainable transport, waste, supply chains, and more.
