Megan Simpson (she/her) is a Senior Consultant at Shared Planet, a social and environmental research consultancy based in London and operating globally. At Shared Planet, she leads the Climate and Nature Governance practice area and has worked on many projects relating to nature conservation and restoration. Megan’s client portfolio includes World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and Gold Standard. For these clients, she has developed guidance tools for justice-led conservation initiatives in the UK (WWF-UK), policy briefs and reports analysing Nature Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPS) (IUCN and GAIN), and a ‘Nature Framework’ to help organisations take responsibility for their nature impacts (Gold Standard). Before Shared Planet, Megan supported the development of a health vulnerability assessment of climate change for the Métis National Council (an Indigenous government in Canada). Megan holds a MA in Human Rights from University College London (UCL), where her dissertation focused on the Indigenous right to Free, Prior, and Informed Consent in natural resource management. She also earned a BA in History with an integrated Masters in Management from the University of British Columbia (UBC).
